H1N1 Strategic Plan
LMCC Implements Strategic Plan in Light of H1N1 Virus

Holistic care begins with attending to an individual’s physical health. With this basic principle in mind, Laurelville Mennonite Church Center unveiled an H1N1 flu virus strategic plan, aimed at promoting health and wellness for all its visitors and staff members.
“We are committed to holistic care for individuals and communities,” explains Executive Director John Denlinger, “and that compels us to make sure that Laurelville is a safe, healthy environment.”
Denlinger conducted a staff-wide meeting in order to identify preventive measures the retreat center can take to more fully embrace that commitment.
Actions Laurelville will take as part of its strategic plan include:
- Healthy living guidelines will be posted in common areas of campus, including special instructions for use of the Dining Hall; also, reminders to sanitize hands and take other precautionary measures will be displayed in common areas.
- Alcohol-based hand sanitizer and facial tissue will be made available in all common areas and at the entrance to the Dining Hall buffet line.
- Waste receptacles will be made more available, and Laurelville staff will continue to monitor cleanliness of common areas.
- Disinfectant wipes will be made available near all campus telephones.
- A pandemic flu response plan will be drafted and adhered to in case of suspected outbreak of H1N1 flu or other potentially harmful, contagious illnesses. This plan will include communication procedures, a quarantine plan, and an emergency shut-down response in case of suspected outbreak.
Laurelville’s plan mirrors those drafted and implemented by other institutions and agencies where frequent human interaction may put individuals at risk of exposure to the H1N1 flu virus and other airborne viruses and bacteria.
