I’m so pumped about Family Camp this summer. Wahoooooo!!!!!!!!! I’m eager to see how God challenges and grows families during our weekend together. We’ll focus on Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 because let’s face it, when it comes to families, two are better than one (2 unloading the dishwasher together; 2 making the bed together; 2 reading God’s word together;  2 schlepping to and from soccer every-stinking-night-of-the-week-for-the-love together; 2 praying together; 2 singing together while folding the laundry; 2 P-R-A-Y-I-N-G together; 2 facing tragedy together…).

Our memory verse for the week is found in Ecclesiastes 4:12. “And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; a three-fold cord is not quickly broken.” Why don’t you consider committing it to memory even now as a family? Oooohhhh…oh my goodness…If you are a singing family, what if you make a song to this verse and then come sing it to the glory of God when you get to camp? Oh wow. I’m about to jump out of my seat and dance!  I can’t wait to sing this verse together!!! I’m going to work on a song. How about you?

If you are a family of 2 or 12, I feel like you should be ready for some really sweet time together: praying, playing, serving, worshiping, loving on each other, resting, laughing, and mostly just drinking in the ridiculous blessings from Jesus that He always has available for you but that you rarely take the time to savor because we are busy people!  THIS. IS. YOUR. CHANCE.

I’m praying much about what the Lord wants us to be about in late July, and I know He is already preparing hearts and clearing schedules for those whom Jesus wants to be there! So, if you feel the nudge from the Lord on this, respond. It’s silly to run away from what God has already prepared for you (see Jonah 2 if you need encouragement in this area!). That’s why I’m IN. God said do it so I’m obeying the first time (for once in my life!…no, really!).

Bring your Bible. Bring your bathing suit. Bring your hiking shoes. If at all possible, consider leaving your smartypantsphone at home…ooohh…I’m going to try that too! I can’t wait to see you July 28-30 for Family Camp!

Theresa Wolf “T” is lavishly loved upon by the people in her life whom God has provided. As a result, she is learning day-by-day more and more about the overwhelming and undeserved grace of God. And, she is learning that this gift is not meant only to receive. God wants to know what T is going to do with it. How will she use it for His glory? How will she speak life and live God’s truth in a dark and hurting world? How can she be on God’s mission and not her own? She also yearns to know what other believers are living and learning and doing to influence others for Christ because she knows that God’s heart swells when we build up, encourage, challenge, and sharpen each other as family.

Currently, Theresa serves as a youth leader at Kaufman Mennonite Church in Davidsville, PA. She is also a cooker of breakfast and lunch for a slightly raucous but entirely lovely group of pre-school students who meet for class at her church everyday. She has a little side business making cheesecakes and other confections. It’s called La Dolce Vita – The Sweet Life – which indicates the kind of life Theresa realizes she gets to live because of Jesus. Rob, her husband, serves as a pastor at Pleasant Hill Church of the Brethren in Johnstown, PA, so sometimes T gets to be a part of stuff there, too! Together, they live in Johnstown, PA. T drives a little old blue Toyota named Myrtle. The kids in her youth group broke the door handles on Myrtle–but Myrtle still loves those kids…and T does too, almost all the time.
