Once the home of Edgar J. Kaufmann, it was designed by internationally famous Frank Lloyd Wright.  Fallingwater employs bold cantilevered construction and is perched on giant boulders over a rushing  waterfall.

Flight 93 National Memorial

On September 11, 2001, United Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pa., during one of the worst tragedies our country has ever witnessed. Come celebrate the heroism of the thirty-three passengers and seven crew members on board who determined to thwart the plans of terrorists that day. Everyone on board died in the crash, but their selflessless and hope lives on in this beautiful memorial to their heoric acts on September 11.

Directions from Laurelville: (Approx. 60 minutes) Left at entrance, left onto Rt. 982, left onto Rt. 31 (at stop light), go 24 miles.  Follow Rt. 31 east through Somerset (follow signs carefully in town).  Turn right onto PA-281 North/Stoystown Rd and go 9 miles.  Merge onto US 30 and go East for a few miles.  Follow signs to the site. 

Fort Ligonier

Journey back in time two centuries to a place where the flag of His Majesty King George still flies! Relive the stirring days of young Colonel George Washington.  The fort is a full-scale, on-site reconstruction of the 1758-66 original, situated on a commanding hilltop.

Johnstown Flood Museum

On May 31, 1889, a neglected dam and a phenomenal storm led to a catastrophe in which 2,209 people died, tens of thousands were left homeless, and a prospering city became a wasteland.  The 1889 Flood is a story not only of great tragedy, but also of the triumph of the human spirit that enabled the city to rebuild.

Kentuck Knob

Linden Hall Mansion

A beautifully restored turn-of-the-century mansion featuring stained glass Tiffany windows, 18 individually designed fireplaces, an Aeolean organ and one of the first motorized elevators.  Thirty-five exquisitely decorated rooms with outstanding craftmanship and design.

Pleasant, left at the Doughboy Statue onto Diamond St., left onto Rt. 819 to Scottdale (5 miles), continue after Scottdale on long winding hilly road about 5 miles, make a right at the "Y" which is Dawson Banning Road, continue about  4 miles following signs for Linden Hall and make a left onto the property and drive through the golf course,   following signs to the mansion.

Restored historic log cabins house various artisan demonstrating their crafts such as bird carving, pottery, weaving, and basketmaking. Nearby is Cassleman River Bridge, the oldest single span stone arch bridge built in 1813.

Westmoreland Museum of American Art

The museum serves as a cultural center for the Greensburg community and surrounding areas.  Its     permanent collection focuses on American art, with strengths in 19th century art and southwestern Pennsylvania artists.  Also included is a collection of 18th and 19th century furniture, paintings, silver, Bakewell glass, prints, ceramics, and American folk art.

West Overton Museums

A restoration of the cottage, mill and main house of the Abraham Overholt estate.  Henry Clay Frick was born in the stone cottage.  A broadly diversified museum has been established in the "mill" building.
