Summer Camp has begun!  Welcome back to the infamous Summer Camp blog!  For those of you who are unfamiliar, this blog serves as a way to let parents, friends, and family know what’s going on with their kids here at Laurelville.

So let’s start at the beginning.  Last Tuesday, June 13th, about 15 staff convened in Zurich to begin orientation for this year’s camp.  The counselors and staff spent a lot of time planning, practicing songs and games, and most importantly preparing for what camp is really about: having fun and growing spiritually.  By the time Sunday rolled around, we were ready to welcome our first week of campers: the Disciples.  DUN DUN DUN.

It’s only Monday, and we’ve already had a splendid time.  Sunday night found us playing some get-to-know-you games, learning about ancient and modern day superheroes with our excellent bible teacher, John Stoltzfus, and playing circle games (like Upset the Fruit Basket) all evening.  Despite it raining a lot last night and today, we didn’t slow down a bit.  We have been playing Life-Size Dutch Blitz, Mafia, doing the Ropes Course, making crafts, and hanging out at the pool.

Rain has never stopped us before, and it surely won’t now.  And I heard through the grapevine that that’s only going to help us to do some mud games on Tuesday…but don’t tell the campers.

All in all, we’ll be having a great week and we hope you do too!
